Learning About Hotels and Lodging

Hello, my name is Genevieve Truman. Welcome to my website about hotels and lodging. When I was a child, my family and I would travel across the world to learn about new cultures and develop lasting friendships. During these travels, I learned about the hotel and lodging industry through an inside perspective. I decided to create this site to share my passion for hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, hostels and many other lodging options available today. I invite you to come back to my site every day to learn all you can about the amazing lodging options available throughout the world. Thank you for coming by.

Tips For Making A Hotel Stay More Comfortable

Whether you're planning a trip for business or pleasure, there are several items that you can bring along to make your hotel stay even more comfortable and enjoyable. The good news is that these things are compact, so they won't take up much space in your suitcase or carry-on bag.

Although hotel rooms provide many things to enhance your comfort, such as multiple pillows, during your stay, there's nothing like having your own items to provide a bit of  "home away from home." This is especially true if you're planning an extended trip and know you will miss your own belongings.

Bringing your own items will enhance both individual and family hotel stays, with younger guests requiring a few different things to give them the comforts of home. If you forget to bring any essential things, however, you can always inquire about them at the hotel's front desk. They often provide items, such as cribs, either for free or at an extra charge.

If you're not sure what extra things to pack, call the hotel prior to your stay to find out what they provide. This may save you precious suitcase space, and money if you planned on making special purchases.

Here are some additional tips for making your next hotel stay more comfortable:

1. Eye Mask and Earplugs

One way to ensure good rest during your next hotel stay is by bringing your own eye mask and earplugs. If the lodging is near a busy highway, or if you're planning a stay in a known party destination, earplugs will help block out any noise.

An eye mask will prevent bright street or alarm clock lights from keeping you awake, as well as allow you to sleep in longer without the morning sun in your eyes. An eye mask may also be helpful during airplane travel, so keep it in your purse or carry-on bag.

2. Small Luxury Items

Most hotel rooms provide personal care necessities, such as shampoo, conditioner, and bars of soap, but bringing your own small luxury items can greatly upgrade your stay. Some pampering products include travel-size bottles of scented body and bath gel, hand and body creams, and even bubble baths. Chose items in a relaxing scent, such as lavender or vanilla, to help calm frazzled nerves from traveling.

Other luxurious items to consider bringing are soft slippers, a warm robe, a scented candle, and even some gourmet snacks for a late-night treat. If you have the space, bring your own soft blanket and/or pillow as well.
